Beginning With Confidence

Confidence is one of the most sought after qualities and characteristics in all mankind. Look around at the successful people, you will notice a bold sense of confidence. But how do you gain confidence? Is there some secret to boosting this magical quality within ourselves? Well, yes and no. Yes for the reason of the fact that we’re not taught how to increase qualities such as confidence in ourselves. We usually leave it up to chance or our external experiences to somehow create a feeling or sense of confidence within us. This makes it unclear for many people how to harness this powerful state of being. And no for the reason that there is no specific thing that will magically boost a person’s confidence overnight. Nor are there any specific experiences designed for this purpose.
But is there an easy way to build confidence? YES! Without oversimplifying this too much I will give you the answer as to how you can begin to live your life with confidence. Are you ready? Ok, here goes. . . Make a choice to live with confidence. Ya see, most people don’t realize that being or having confidence is actually a choice. When you consciously make a choice to be confident or pursue something in your life with confidence, you will begin to react behaviorally from that reference point of what you believe to be confidence in your mind. In other words, when you think of what you would be like as a confident person in a specific situation or in your life in general, you will begin to act in a way that is congruent with that image or idea. When you have done this for an extended period of time, it will become natural for you and you will become confident.
Do this very simple exercise each morning to build your confidence. Take 2-5 minutes each morning to close your eyes and run through your day in your mind. See or imagine yourself doing this in a confident way. handling all situations and interactions from a confident version of yourself. Take notice to how you would react in specific situations as a more confident you. Then, carry out your day from this idea as much as possible. This will begin to form habits that are congruent with confidence. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself living your life as a more confident person.

One of the most fascinating and liberating things I have learned over the years through all my studies and experiences is that events do NOT create our experiences. There are many ways in which we can justify our belief that events do create our experiences, however, this theory is easily disproved. Let’s explore both sides of this argument for a moment.
